Isle of Jura newsletters. These started off as separate pages but have recently been moved to the Isle of Jura Blog pages. Here you will also have an opportunity to comment on the Isle of Jura on any subject.

The Maclean clan has in many eyes the earliest recorded historical link to the Isle of Jura and we have been developing this section as our first Scottish Clan. Isle of Jura Whisky.   This is the only way a lot of people have heard of the Isle of Jura through drinking fine Scotch Whisky. They are also one of the Islands largest employers so we have set out a short guided tour into the distillation process with particular reference to the way this distillery operates.

We start with a brief overview of the history of Scotch Whisky distilling before looking at the history of the development of Isle of Jura distillery . Having established the building we start to look at the Scotch whisky distilling process as practised in Jura. We then look at the whisky stills and the Isle of Jura whisky aging process so important in making Scotch whisky legally whisky. It would be impossible to consider the Isle of Jura Whisky making process without also looking at the various Isle of Jura Whisky brands,

Whilst we are looking at the subject of Isle of Jura Whisky you might like to have a look at a Scotch Whisky DVD on the whole subject of whisky its history and the people who have been involved in it.

The Scottish Thistle has earned a special place in the history of the land find out how here. But you can also read about the Order of the Thistle or Order of St Andrew as it is also known.
